About Pilates

This training method evolved from the teachings of Joseph H. Pilates, a gentleman committed to the science of fitness and the creation of an innovative method to support that commitment. These theories and practices earned and maintained an exemplary reputation beginning in the late 1920's and continue to be ahead of their time even today.

These are just a few of the benefits that Pilates can deliver:
Postural improvement and alignment awareness.  Profound abdominal and core body strength, which leads to greater lower back strength and stability. Increased strength, flexibility, and joint range of motion. Greatly decreased incidence of sports related injury and back pain.

Pilates Mat Work
Graduated challenges to lay a foundation of strength and coordination to absolute abdominal and core control for a strong and a healthy body

Pilates Equipment Work
An extension of the floor technique allowing the student to work on strengthening and realigning the body in a non-weight bearing situation with graduated resistance and progressive challenge. 

Dance Conditioning
Application of the general principles of Pilates and the
GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to the special needs and concerns of dancers.
